The new project, Hard Rock Hotel Algarve, is the latest European expansion for the company, which is determined to scale its global presence in the land-based and resort sectors. The hotel has no planned casino, although this is probably not completely out of the question as Hard Rock is operating some of the biggest and most worthwhile gaming resorts worldwide.

Presently, the project is set to start construction in 2024 and be completed by 2026. There will be 275 luxurious rooms and 150 branded serviced apartments that travellers can stay at. There will be a wide range of amenities on-site on the property, including the Hard Rock Roxity Kids Club, restaurants and bars, a Rock Spa, a gym, a Rock Shop, and more.
Commenting on this new opportunity and project, SVP and head of global hotel development for Hard Rock International, Todd Hricko, welcomed the opportunity to be introducing this new project and its significance for the local market:
This new development will further extend the enhanced entertainment experience our guests know and love to yet another part of the world while incorporating the country’s amazing culture.

VO of Mercan Properties Jordi Vilanova was similarly pleased with this new opportunity and said that the company welcomed the chance to see this promising land-based facility built on the shores of Praia do Vau. Vilanova expects the new project to be a great success in Algarve and have a positive impact on the country.
“Algarve continues to be of great interest and attention from Mercan, illustrated by our investment in the region in the form of four projects,” Vilanova said. Hard Rock recently began the construction of its first property in Canada.
The company is building a Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Ottawa and is set to welcome its first guests and visitors in early 2025.
