Ex-Playtech Exec Toby Sucharov Joins Citizen as CTO

The award-winning provider of payment services, powering the online gambling vertical, Citizen, announced a new senior-level appointment. The company revealed that it hired the services of Dr Toby Sucharov, an expert with extensive experience, to the role of chief technology officer (CTO). In his new role, he brings a wealth of knowledge and insight after being part of leading companies within the iGaming vertical, including William Hill and Playtech.

As CTO at Citizen, Sucharov will leverage his skills and knowledge. He will oversee strategic processes and provide guidance that is expected to help the company grow further the reach of technology products to new markets and partners around the globe.

Before joining the growing team of experts at Citizen, Sucharov was a part of Playtech, a leading gambling technology company. During his tenure with the company, he served as head of UK innovation and at the same time, held the role of head of games platform as a service (GPAS), which processes tens of billions of transactions every year. In addition to Playtech, Sucharov was also a part of William Hill where he oversaw its automated sports pricing systems.

The appointment of the expert that used to be an important part of Playtech comes on the heels of other important recent hires. Citizen recently strengthened its team with the appointment of Sarah Ahle as head of compliance. Ahle brought extensive experience after being a part of companies such as eBay and OpenPayd, among others.

James Neville, Citizen’s co-founder and CEO, explained that the appointment comes at a time when the company prepares for further growth as it enters the second half of the year. According to him, having strong leadership is an inseparable part of the growth process as the business expands on a global scale. Finally, Neville said that Sucharov brings unique and extensive knowledge and experience within the iGaming vertical, making him the perfect fit for the new role.
